During the last couple of threads, moderators of the forum have come under heavy attacks for simply doing their jobs. It is thus forces me to identify the jobs of the moderators and identify how people should act towards them and question their actions.
1. A moderator’s job is to make sure all topics are clean in the following way:
a. To make sure there is no profanity (in any language) present in the posts. If there is, those words will be changed to [moderated]. That includes words that are profanity but certain letters were removed that still makes them readable (i.e. f**k).
b. To make sure there are no attacks targeted at an individual. That includes but is not limited to moderators, club members, guest readers, close affiliates of the members and guests, and associates. Criticism towards a public figure (such as president Bush) is permitted granted that the debate does not turn into a hate war.
c. To make sure that the posts are not offensive towards the general public. Common topics include but are not limited to pornography, explicit and/or disgusting descriptions, and extreme racism.
2. What to do if your post has been changed:
a. Do not publicly attack the moderator for violating his/her rights to free speech.
b. If you know which of the moderators changed/deleted your post, private message him/her asking for an explanation as to the reasons of change/deletion.
c. If you don't know which moderator changed your post, kindly ask and then follow 2.b.
d. Do not repost the same message and/or words if they have been changed or deleted. Doing so may get you temporarily banned from the apelsinovka forums. Multiple offenses may get you permanently banned.
3. Moderators rights:
a. A moderator has the right to change, delete, or lock a post or thread if the post violates any of the above stated rules.
b. A moderator has the right to decide whether or not a post or thread violated the above stated rules.
c. A moderator has the right to change/delete other moderator’s posts if the above rules have been violated.
The reason for multiple moderators is that each moderator has diffrent views of what is offensive and what is not. If a certain post is offending to one of the moderators, chances are it is offending to a larger crowd. Also, multiple moderators can keep each other in check if one of the moderators blurs out something that violates the above rules.
Updated June 22, 2004:
All users are encouraged to register. Registering gives the user more rights and features. A registered user is allowed to send private messages, thus request an explanation for the change/deletion of their post. Guests violating the above rules will be provided no explanation as to why their posts have been deleted and/or changed. Public requests for explanation will be deleted and the users ip may be temporarily banned for multiple offenses.
Updated August 6, 2004:
Due to the increasing number of posts, the moderators may not read all the material to determine if a post breaks any of the above rules. If a registered member finds a post that he or she thinks violates any of the above rules, he or she may submit a request to any moderator via private message which includes the link to the thread and the exact wording of the offending material with a brief eplanation of why it violates the above rules. That moderator will then review the offending post and determine the course of action nessesary to correct it.
Updated July 15, 2005:
Avatars can be uploaded to your profile and they will be visible in every single post that you make. As with the general rules, no profanity and no nudity is allowed in the avatars. Also, please do not put slurs that discriminate against race, gender, age, and religion. Such avatars will be deleted. If a user keeps uploading offensive avatars, he/she may lose his/her avatar priviledge.

If you have an event or a special interest group that you would like to coordinate on apelsinovka, you can request to have a forum made specifically for it. This forum can be made public, private, or hidden private. For private forums, a group will be created that has access to the special forum. The requester of the forum will be made moderator of that group and will be able to add and delete users from that group as he/she pleases. To request a forum, send a private message to an admin with a description and the purpose of the forum. If you would like to name it a specific name, mention that too otherwise, the admin will make up a name as he/she fits. Event forums will be deleted approximately 2 months after the event. Other type of forums will vary depending on interest but will also be given a two month warning of it's deletion.
Updated July 11, 2006
Spam will not be tolerated. Anyone found spaming on any of the forums (including HCP, personal, and private forums) will be permanetly banned and all messages of spam will be deleted. Spam is all of the following but is not limited to: hidden links, advertisement of personal products, links made just to raise ratings of personal sites, and mutiple repeated posts. Advertisement of other websites is allowed IF the site is relevant to the Russian community of Orange County or to it's members and a link can only be posted one time on only one forum which best fits it's category. If a site is hosting an event, a link to that site can be posted with each event advertised so that users can find more info on the event.
Updated August 6, 2006
Allowed launguages on all of the public forums are English and Russian. If we can't understand what you are saying, then we don't know if a post breaks any rules. So by default, we will assume it does. This rule does not apply to the HCP forum or any private forums.

There has been a large number of bot registrations that have been going on. Most bots however, have some things in common that allows us to determine if they are bots or not. All accounts showing a birthdate of March 28, 1983 will be considered bot registrations. If by any strange chance you are born on March 28, 1983, please let us know before entering your birthdate. Anyone found with that birthdate in their account will be deleted no questions asked. In addition, please make sure you supply a valid e-mail. If your e-mail bounces back, it means that you can not activate your account and thus will be deleted. If you think that you may have accidently supplied a wrong e-mail or you never recieved an activation link, please e-mail us ASAP in order for us to fix the problem. Accounts that have not been activated within 2 days may be deleted.
Updated September 02, 2007
The use of throwaway/antispam email services to register Apelsinovka accounts is from now on prohibited, as more often these services are used by spambots and such. If a new account registered on or after September 02, 2007 is using such an address, the account will be suspended and/or deleted without any further communication from the administrators.

FAQ: Why can't I start a thread in the Events Only forum?
Events Only forum was designed to have organized events posted to it. Private events with topics such as "Let's go bowling" don't belong in there. Since the majority of the people are not official spokespeople from organizations, we have limited this forum to a small handful of people who are. If you do have an event to post that you think belongs in there, post it in the General Forum. Please be sure to include the name and date of the event in the title, and the info along with a link in the body. If the post meets that criteria, it will be moved to the Events Only forum by a moderator. You do not need to write something like "moderator, please move this thread." It will be ignored if the post does not meet the above stated requirements. If you are an event organizer that would like to post the events on a regular basis, please contact one of the moderators to gain posting privilege.
These rules are not final and can be changed as problems and/or solutions arise. _________________ If anything I say is wrong, I never said it!!

Have fun! |
